Introducing Dad News

September 16, 2008 by Dad · Leave a Comment

Using the “digg” formula of allowing users to add their own favorite newly discovered stories found surfing the net Dad News is taking on the monumental task of being the daily source of Dad News.

What is Dad News?

Dad News includes news, blog posts, informative articles, and Website reviews only if they are of particular interest to a father and worth sharing. Clearly there are a lot of dads in this world so it can be said that almost everything relates to dads. This is true, and we do get hundreds of submissions and requests that we turn away because they’re just not dad-centric enough. You see, we are hell-bent on building a highly useful resource for dads, and not just dads that are online today, but for our boys that are the dads of the future, as well!

Since 2006 we’ve been marching forward on this mission and we’re putting it into another gear now with Dad News.

We scour the internet daily for content worthy of adding to our Dad News section and we hope you’ll show your support for dads by adding some gems you come across as well. It’s free, easy, and very helpful to the dads coming through in the future.

National Fatherhood Initiative

July 23, 2008 by Dad · 1 Comment

The National Fatherhood Initiative is a nonprofit whose mission is “to improve the well being of children by increasing the proportion of children growing up with involved, responsible, and committed fathers”. They accomplish their mission through:

  • Educating and inspiring fathers, through public awareness campaigns, research, and other resources.
  • Equipping and developing leaders of national, state, and community fatherhood initiatives through curricula, training, and technical assistance.
  • Engaging every sector of society through strategic alliances and partnerships.

Some of the key programs they offer include:

  • Doctor Dad - Developed by healthcare professionals, this program is a curriculum that teaches dads how to care for the basic health needs of their children and how to make their home kid safe.
  • 24/7 Dad - This is a cutting-edge, in-depth fathering skills program that helps men develop the right attitudes, knowledge, and fathering skills needed to get involved with their children.
  • Christian-based 27/7 Dad - A specialized version of their most popular ‘24/7 Dad’ program. This version of their fathering skills program was developed specifically for churches and Christian organizations to use to reach fathers in their congregation or to use in engaging fathers in their local community.

For all of their programs visit their training page at: Fatherhood Training.

Dads Club

They also offer membership in their Dads Club.

Membership costs a one-time fee of $30 and is for life. You’ll get plenty of goodies (t-shirt, discounts, and more), but most importantly you’ll be helping a great cause including your relationship with your kids!

If you’re interested in learning more about fatherhood and how having involved dads can help society as a whole then check out their research on fatherhood.

Dad Benitez shares his fatherhood experience

July 12, 2008 by Dad · Leave a Comment

Dana Glazer, the Visionary behind ‘The Evolution of Dad Project‘ ran into Ralph Benitez on a recent camping trip and when Dana learned more about Ralph’s fatherhood experience he decided he’d just have to get it on tape.

Fatherhood brings with it different experiences for each of us and Ralph’s experience is as unique to him as each of us are as individuals. He was kind enough to share his moving experience so please set aside 5 minutes to watch this video from The Evolution of Dad video collection.
